We met Allyson & Joel of Sightsee Shop & Coffee Bar on their road trip across the United States when Sightsee was just an idea. They shared their vision for shop & coffee bar in Charleston, South Carolina and we immediately wanted to be apart of what they were dreaming up.
The first phase of Sightsee consisted of 6 months of pop-ups in the Charleston area. They stocked travel inspired goods, like our blankets & Wildsam Field Guides and served unpretentious but delicious coffee. Phase two of Sightsee is creating a permanent home. They found an amazing space in the Elliotborough neighborhood of Charleston and are currently utilizing Kickstarter to to fund the build out.
We are so inspired by these two and wanted to share a little bit more about them, read on for a little Q&A & consider contributing to their dream here.
PP: Where is paradise for you?
A&J: If we’re not overlooking a crystal-clear ocean from a tropical cabana, then anywhere with water, sunshine, palm trees and our pups is a very close second. We often put our dogs in our cargo bike and cruise along the Charleston coastline with a cup of coffee -- those mornings sure feel like paradise to us.
PP: What does your dream work day look like?
A&J: A dream work day for us is any day when we can create an experience where people feel welcome, whether that’s thinking up creative ideas together, serving someone great coffee, or sharing a maker’s product with a new fan!
PP: Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?
A&J: We’d have a giant taco-making fiesta in a fenced-in backyard with at least 10 reasonably well-behaved rescue dogs, all of our dearest friends, John Mulaney and Kristen Wiig.
PP: In paradise, what book would you be reading?
A&J: Smuggler’s Cove: Exotic Cocktails, Rum, and the Cult of Tiki by Martin & Rebecca Cate, for obvious reasons.
PP: What is one song you’d listen to in Paradise?
A&J: That’s a great question! We are both big music lovers and actually make Sightsee Playlists every few months that hopefully embody a bit of paradise. One we would definitely listen to is “Waves” by Miguel, ft. Kacey Musgraves.
